Maudlin CD Release

Last night I was up in the cities for the CD release show for my good friends Maudlin (David, Priscilla, and Jason), at the Triple Rock. It was a great night overall; So It Goes opened, Maudlin played a killer set and smashed a bass, and then The Hopefuls finished it off. This night was particularly fun for me because I shot the photos that Priscilla used for the cover art. Priscilla put it together, and did a phenomenal job.

Maudlin and the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

So here’s a few shots from the show that I’ve had time to do things with since getting home at 4am. I’ll put up a future update if the music becomes available for purchase online. Keep it real folks.

to my traitor son,

To my traitor son,

I am both crowned and king,
but they are not the same.
I had everything,
but you. You wanted more.
Couldn’t wait for me to fall,
so you stole my throne.

And the blacksmith poured.
into historic mold
not glass nor gold
but steel, which you’ve not felt.
A tool unscathed by wealth.
The poor man’s strength.

And I took my sword new cast
and ran it through your back.
My son is dead.
For you see there are kings and crowns,
but they are not the same.
There is blood on crowns,
but there is blood in kings.
