Circa July

I’ve got more film shots coming up from Sam and Rachel’s wedding, but at the same time as those, I had a roll developed that was shot on and around July 4th. Somehow I never got it taken to the lab (which, by the way, sucks and scratches the deuce out of everything), so I’m going to upload those first, since they’re good shots, even if I don’t really remember them. All these shots were on Ilford Delta 400.

tuck and roll… mostly roll…

Today I ditched my longboard while moving at roughly 30 miles per hour. I managed to get four steps in, tuck and plant on my shoulder, and roll about 7 or 10 times to a stop on the asphalt. This could potentially have been embarrassing, except that both Josh and Joel managed to fall as hard or harder at the same speed, on the same hill, at the same time. No joke. Thirty miles an hour is a tough speed to maintain stability at if you’ve never tried it on a longboard, and this became extremely evident to us all. We have varying levels and locations of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and rectal dysfunctions (I won’t name names, but I’ll just say it wasn’t Josh or myself), and after we got up and kind of gained our bearings (which took me the longest, having spun so many times), we laughed hysterically for some time after that before making our way back to the car. With that many scrapes on your body, even the wind hurts your skin, so it was… interesting.

My biggest regret is that Tim wasn’t there to fall with us. That being said, his luck isn’t great, and he’d probably be hospitalized for missing the asphalt and plummeting off the cliff (no joke) that was to one side of the road.

My friends and I, we are so safe.

Also, Happy Birthday Beth!

366 days

I don’t write much personal stuff on here, at least as of late. But I realized, today, that it was one year and one day ago that my fiancée left me. In an instant message, of all ways.

I was talking with a friend about how strange life can be. Such small things become such tremendous ones. Once upon a time, she was just a cute girl at a bonfire. I once took a huge leap and spent a thousand dollars on a camera, not knowing at all that it would become my career. A year and a day ago, just a few short words on the screen of a computer tore my life apart. And the funniest thing of all… It’s strange how just one day at a time can become a year.

I hope you’re all well. Thank you, readers and friends, who have been there for me. Good folk, one and all.
