Self-Portrait
I was thinking earlier today about how uncommon it is to see photos of photographers (can any of you really think about what, say, Ansel Adams or Gary Winogrand looked like?) Anyway, with that in mind, here’s a hot of me from a few weeks ago when I was shooting a wedding. Last frame on the roll and I needed to swap films.

Great shot! There is one photographer that has lots of photos of himself … Martin Parr
Every country he goes to he let’s a local photographer take a picture of him. He does anything that they ask of him (posing, cosumes, etc.) except for smiling.

Yes, I suppose it is true that Martin Parr woud be that exception, and I even considered that when writing the post. He’s got the added benefit of being on European TV sometimes talking about photography and so on, which is pretty great. Another possibly exception might be Annie Liebowitz, and more electronically, Chase Jarvis (mostly just because his blog has become so prolific.) Andrew Hetherington, while more obscure, might also count since he takes his photo with other well-known photographers or people in the photo community whenever possible.
