Tragedy Is A Beautiful Lie
On the off chance that somebody reading this doesn’t already know me, I’ll tell you about my music.
See, I created an electronic band called “LoPez”, and I’m currently working on our first album, Tragedy Is A Beautiful Lie, which combines a few different genres, and experiences most influence by Thom Yorke, Mogwai, Jesu, and Death Cab for Cutie.
We currently have 4 members. Myself, utilizing Reason almost exclusively for the core of the songs, but also some guitar, and writing the lyrics. Jordan Ogren does about the same, minus the lyrics. Generally he or I start with a musical idea, get it tracked out in Reason, and then send it to the other for more finesse and adjustment. We also have Mr. Joshua Day, who is our resident guitarist. While our vocalist isn’t set in stone just yet, it appears as though it will be Ms. Elizabeth Wall. Quite a soothing voice indeed.
The album will be 11 tracks that are sometimes instrumental, sometimes vocalized, and always enchanting. The framework for all but one of the songs is currently laid out already, and the next few months will be spent going through each song and making it much more elaborate, tight, cohesive, and coherent. Then, of course, is the work of adding the vocals to the roughly 5 songs that will have them, as well as live guitars, which I have found to be the only instrument insufficiently realistic when created digitally. This is not to say it can’t be done, but it simply doesn’t fit the sound we’re attempting.
Upon release of the album, or perhaps shortly before, things will start to get really crazy. This album is very theatrical in nature. Each song, even instrumental, is a piece of a larger picture. It uses recurring themes and melodies, and have lyrics that play off the other songs.
I mention this because a single music video wouldn’t seem to be quite in place on its own.
And so it hit me.
I need a music video album.
Eleven short videos that each play a role in the larger picture. Of course, each would utilize the music provided by the album, and while they wouldn’t necessarily be in place on their own, the whole would be insufficiently perfect without it.
This is going to be amazing. Keep fighting the good fight.
